Protection Approaches is working with Brent Council and local partners on a project to strengthen community understanding of hate crime and how to support those affected. This work includes a programme of free training workshops for community and faith groups, alongside local research to better understand the experiences, needs, and ideas of Brent’s diverse communities when it comes to hate crime and identity-based harm.
Through the Understanding Hate and Supporting Communities workshops, we’re offering practical, interactive sessions that help participants explore what hate crime is, how it affects individuals and communities, and what can be done to challenge it. These sessions are open to local organisations and groups looking to build safer, more inclusive spaces.
Alongside this, Protection Approaches is also conducting community research, speaking with residents and community representatives to hear their experiences and insights. This research will inform local approaches to tackling hate crime and ensure that community voices are central in shaping future responses.
If you are based in Brent and would like to attend a workshop, host a session for your group, or take part in the research, we’d love to hear from you.
